Okay, stop here if you have not seen the related video yet. I’ll link it below for those of you that don’t keep track of YouTube, and from the looks of my subscribers, or lack thereof, that should include most everyone here. After you’ve had a chance to watch the video, scroll down and read further. It should make more sense then. Thanks!
Versatile Blogger Award, or how to create suspense.
This past week Jo-Anne Teal sent a surprise my way. She nominated my blog for an award. The nature of the award is much like a chain letter, but a worthy one. The origins of the award can be found at the Versatile Blogger website. The rules are simple. If you receive this award, then in the spirit of cross promotion and giving back, you are to nominate fifteen of your fellow bloggers that you feel your readers would enjoy. Believe it or not, that’s the easy part. The other stipulation is to help your readers get to know you better. In that regard, you have to list seven things about yourself that may not be common knowledge.
I’ll tell you who my top 15 bloggers are in just a moment (that’s the suspense part – can you feel it), but first, here are some things about me that are true, and that you might not know.
#1. I’m a romantic at heart. I asked my wife to marry me on one knee, in a room full of people that I have never met, and will likely never meet again. They were tourists, such as ourselves. When I proposed, we were just outside the door to the Sistine Chapel at the Vatican.
#2. I prefer cold weather to hot, and would rather see it snow than watch the temperature rise to triple digits. It’s never warmer than 72 degrees inside my house.
#3. When I’m driving, I have a sixth sense on where to expect police cars. This comes in handy as I’ve been known to drive at speeds in excess of 150mph in the car, and on a motorcycle (just not my current one). I am a speed junkie, and love the adrenaline rush.
#4. KD Rush is not my legal name. Most of my family calls me by my first name, or uses my initials KD. Everyone else that I’ve met in the past fifteen years, outside of work, calls me Rush. If you have a question about that nickname, then see #3.
#5. I am much more sociable online than I am in person. In fact, it’s more likely that I would visit your website and leave a comment than show up to a party that you’re throwing and talk to anyone. It’s not that I’m shy or terribly introverted. I actually enjoy public speaking; the larger the crowd the better. I’m just not comfortable making small talk with people I barely know. If someone starts talking about the weather, I’m likely to pull out my iPhone and check it.
#6. I do not like sports. There, I said it. Talk sports around me and my eyes start to glaze over. It doesn’t matter what sport, I’ll have nearly no idea what you’re talking about if you mention teams, players or scores. However, if I HAD to pick a sports team, then I’ll always go with whichever one is wearing purple or black, my two favorite colors.
#7. I have an odd sleep schedule, and have since early childhood. It’s rare that I spend more than four hours at a time sleeping, and when I do, it drags me down the rest of the day. Bedtime for me is typically between 3:00 AM – 7:00 AM, and 90% of the time I never set an alarm clock.
Okay, more than you ever wanted to know right? Hope you found this interesting enough to at least leave me a reply.
